Great St. Stephen High School athlete. All-County in 1934 and 1935. Captained Mythical State Champion Class "C" 1935 football team. Named to several all-star softball teams in Port Huron Industrial League while playing for Mueller Brass. Outstanding basketball player. Received the St. George Award in scouting – the highest honor awarded by Catholic church for scouting.
